Hair Spa at Home: 4 Incredible Hair Masks

Taking care of hair during monsoon is an unavoidable routine. If you love your hair and you want your hair to be smooth, silky, soft and frizz free then you should never miss a chance to pamper your hair. Now, let's be a little practical and say that doing weekly hair spa at salon is not only time consuming, but also a question of lot of money. So, do you want to spend huge bucks on salon hair spa every week? Not really, Right?

Well, then doing home hair spa is the alternative and natural solution to keep your hair in good condition this monsoon. While doing a hair spa at home, you should always use ingredients that are organic, natural and available near your hands straight from your kitchen. Doing a hair spa at home saves your money, keeps your hair naturally good and also give you the confidence to flaunt your hair style.

So, following are the hair masks for hair spa:

1) Cucumber Egg Mask- Take one grated cucumber, add 1 egg (medium length hair) and a few drops of coconut hair oil. Mix them all and make a semi liquid paste. Apply on your hair and wrap it with cotton T-shirt to lock in the moisture for 15 minutes. Then, wash your hair with cold water. Cucumber helps in hair growth and eggs have lot of protein which nourishes your hair well.

2) Yogurt and olive oil Mask- Mix 2 Tbsp of yogurt and 3 tbsp of olive oil and apply the paste all over your hair. Keep it for 10-15 minutes and then wash your hair with cold water. Yogurt has protein and makes your hair strong, smooth and promotes hair growth.

3) Banana and honey Mask- Banana has vitamin A and all other rich nutrients that are really good for your hair. Peel the banana and smash it to make a fine paste, add honey into the paste and mix nicely. Then, apply the mask on your hair and keep for 20 minutes, then wash your hair with good and mild shampoo followed by conditioner. This mask is very good for dull and damaged hair.

4) Aloe vera and lime hair mask- No doubt, aloevera is the best choice for both skin and hair. To make this hair mask, you need 5 to 6 spoon of aloevera gel and lime juice from 1 lemon. This mask is very good for oily hair and the acidic nature in lime fights all the dirt that accumulate on the scalp.

Oats Chocolate Cake Recipe without baking in Microwave Oven

Who says carbohydrates are bad for your health? If you have your carbs in balance especially your complex carbs, then it is the right amount of energy that you get for your body to complete your daily work. Oats is considered as one of the best complex carbs in the health industry. And, if you are on a diet and complaining that oats taste really bad, then WAIT! I have a great recipe today to share with all you my lovely readers. Its not only healthy, but it is also tasty, nutritious and healthy. Oats keeps you full and also helps in reducing weight.

So, here goes the recipe:


1) Oats- 5 cups
2) Cocoa Powder- 2 Tbsp
3) Whey Protein Powder- 1 scoop
4)  Eggs- 3 (whole)
5) Stevia tablets(grind to make fine powder)
6) Baking Powder- 1/2 tbsp
67) Vanilla Essence

How to Make:

1) Firstly, with the help of a blender, make a powder or atta from the oats.
2) Then, slowly add cocoa powder, protein powder, stevia powder, baking powder into the oats powder. Then, add the eggs and mix all the ingredients.
3) While mixing the ingredients, make sure the batter becomes smooth and there is no lumps.
4) Now, take a bowl of Aluminium foil and grease it with ghee or butter and sprinkle some oats atta. This will make sure that the cake will not stick.
5) Now, boil a pan or kadai with wide mouth and place a stainless steel stand inside the pan. Then, slowly place the aluminium foil on the stand and cover the pan or kadai with a lid.
6) Lower the flame and let it bake for 15 to 20 mins.
7)  In between, please check the condition of cake, but don't mishandle it while baking.
8) Now that 20 mins is done, take a knife or a toothpick and insert slowly inside the cake, if it comes out clean, then you will understand that your cake is ready.
9) Let it cool and then cut into desired pieces.

Korean Sheet Masks: Are they worth the Hype?

By this time, I am sure you already have known that Korean sheet masks or face masks.... well, whatever you want to call it has taken a revolution in Indian beauty skincare industry. From Beauty Bloggers to Celebrities, all are going ga-ga over this thin layer of sheet that makes you feel that you have come straight from a horror movie. Well, doesn't it? Well take a look at this picture!

What are Sheet Masks?

Many of you still wondering what it is? Glad to share that I also become a fanatic to try this sheet mask. It is a mask packed, soaked and wrapped in moisturising ingredients. This sheet mask creates a kind of barrier between your skin and air and even helps the ingredients to penetrate deep. Well, this face mask is different from traditional clay mask because they do not evaporate completely making the skin dry and cracky. The sheet masks do have a slippery texture which nourish the skin well.

How do you use a sheet mask?

Now that I am writing this, you need to trust that I am actually a pro in using a sheet mask. And, have faith you will be too in 1 or 2 time. (Jokes Apart) Here are some clear steps to follow:

1. Never ever apply a sheet mask directly on a dirty face. Wash your face, if you want you can even scrub your face to reduce those extra blackheads, apply a good toner. And then, its time to unfold the sheet mask. But, remember do not apply any kind moisturiser on your face or else it will show up.

2. While opening the pack be careful because it has that slippery texture and you ill also find some extra serum on the packet. Don't throw it away. Make sure you gently place the sheet on your face keeping all the cut outs like eyes, nose and lips in sync.

3. Now, stretch the sheet gently in outward direction so that you have less wrinkles of the sheet on your face.

How long you need to keep the sheet mask?

Well, well it is good if you can keep it for 20 mins exact and not more or less. Because, if you keep it less than 20 mins, then the sheet mask cannot penetrate well into your skin. And, if you keep it for too long, then the sheet will dry up on your face and it can adverse the effect of face mask. Once done, use that extra serum inside the packet on your neck to get that additional benefit.

How to take off the sheet mask?

After 20 minutes, do not wash your face with water or something and instead rest the serum on your face till gets completely absorbed. then, top it with good cream or moisturiser.

Consistency is the Key

We all know how skincare is important for a healthy, glowing looking skin. And, nothing comes easy. So, when you are determined to include sheet mask in your skincare routine, always be consistent with this step. Using one time or occasional use will not give that impact on your skin that you are looking for. So, honey, you know the game!

These sheet masks ruled the Korean Beauty Routine and thanks to Nykaa in India that The Face Shop and Innisfree introduced their sheet masks and made it available to Indian Beauties at an affordable price. Now, there are so many brands already for you to try, but always know your skin type and read the ingredients list. To survive the commercial market, demand and trend, many brands are using PEG and preservatives in sheet masks. So, read carefully choose wisely.

6 Morning Habits to be Happy

Happiness is a very subjective word. We all search for happiness in big things and large achievements, but the real truth is that the small achievements in your life gives you the real inner happiness. Now, there are various ways to stay happy in your life. But, the morning plays an important role in making you happy from inside. Therefore, today I am going to share six different morning habits that you should follow and know how to stay happy. 

Wake Up Early- Now, waking up early not only boost your mood but it also regulates your blood circulation in a proper way. to be happy, you do not need to wake up too early like 4.00 AM, but at least try to wake up 1 hour before your usual time. it helps you spend some quality time with yourself.

Stay Away from Smartphone- We all have a tendency to check our social media as soon as we wake up. its a kind of addiction that we all are suffering. And, checking others life on social media makes us depressing. So, while waking up do not look into your phone and just stay away from it. Trust me, it will give inner happiness. though it will tough in the beginning, but nothing is impossible Right?

Look into the Nature- Wake up, leave your bed and head straight to your balcony. Stand there for at least 2 mins and look the nature around you, look into the blue sky, white clouds, listen to birds chirping. this is the ultimate happiness. these days, in our fast life we hardly get time to spend with nature. So, this is your time go and enjoy nature.

Stay Hydrated- After freshen up yourself, you must drink warm water empty stomach. It keeps your stomach clean and remove all the toxins from the body. I prefer my warm water with fresh lemon and honey. you can make your drink. While drinking, I also love reading some pages of my book. this helps to relax and enjoy.

Meditation- Now, I know many of you love to do exercise during morning because that makes you energetic. But, don't forget to include meditation in your fitness routine. Meditation helps your get clear mind and thought. you become a much calm person. you can take great decisions in life without any doubts. In the beginning, it will be tough to meditate at least for 2 mins. But, don't give up and practice it will help you in the near future.

Plan your Day as per Priorities- Let's be very practical and ask you that do you really think a To-Do List actually works? If not, then you should always what are your priorities for the day. then, plan your day accordingly. It will bring a big change in your life and will be out of all kinds of frustrations.

Himalaya Anti Dandruff Hair Cream Vs Aaranyaa Hair Pack with Argan Oil

During summers, our hair becomes dull, dry, rough and frizzy because of that pollution, dirt and strong UV rays. Therefore, it is very important to follow good summer hair care routine. A proper routine includes the following:

  • Hot oiling
  • Shampooing
  • Hair Cream
  • Conditioning

All the steps are very important for a silky and smooth hair. But, do you know that hair mask or hair cream plays a significant role in hair care routine? Well, today I will be comparing two hair masks and help you decide which one to choose.

1.       Himalaya Anti Dandruff Hair Cream

No doubt, Himalaya Herbals is a popular brand and all the products under the brand are trustworthy. This hair cream comes in 100 ml and retails for Rs. 80, which is very affordable.  It is infused with Tea Tree Oil and Tulsi. Well, tea tree oil is very good agent to reduce your dandruff. You can use it after or before washing your hair. The product is not runny and not too thick. The texture is slippery. After applying, you need to wait for 20 mins and then wash your hair thoroughly. To my experience, this product and the tea tree oil actually works on my dandruff and I am really satisfied using this product. I also used this product in my Summer Hair Care Routine. 2.       Aaranyaa Hair Pack with Argan Oil

This is an Indian brand and I receive this product in collaboration with Aaranyaa. This product comes in 250 ml which retails for Rs. 445. The smell of the product is just awesome. The product is bit runny and while applying it on my scalp it did mess up the area. The texture is slippery like the Himalaya Hair Cream. It is better to wash your hair and then apply the hair pack. You need to keep the hair pack for 15-20 mins and this will make your hair smooth and silky. But, to my experience the argan oil did not work on my dandruff, but it did make my hair smooth and silky. I have a mixed feeling with the ingredients. Also, I think that the product is bit pricey.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: 7 ways to lower your Stress

Apart from the daily stresses of life, we place additional stresses on our bodies in the way we eat, exercise and our inner voice or self talk. If you constantly put yourself down with negative messages and place stress on the body and this disrupts the hormonal/endocrine system – resulting in the possibility for PCOS.

Stress is a huge topic for women with symptoms of PCOS. That’s because studies have shown that women with PCOS produce higher than normal amounts of stress hormones, and they don’t metabolize them well.
So we make more stress hormones, namely cortisol, and they stick around longer.
In normal circumstances, we would become alarmed at something, our stress hormones, like cortisol, would increase, and then when the threat subsided our cortisol would lower, and our blood levels of stress hormones would lower too.
Studies show that women with PCOS tend to have higher than normal cortisol levels. But it’s complicated for many reasons. Here are a few of them:
 1. High sugar diet: raises insulin (the key that gets sugar into our cells for fuel) which raises cortisol
 2. Lower progesterone: high cortisol = low progesterone, and progesterone is nature’s Valium. It’s very calming and good for the brain.
3. Depression & Anxiety: women with PCOS have higher rates of depression and anxiety. Part of this is due to higher cortisol levels affecting our brain chemicals serotonin and GABA creating lower moods.
4. Symptoms of PCOS: symptoms like extra weight, facial hair growth, being told that you’ll never have a child, acne, PMS symptoms and hormone imbalance in general is very stressful.
5. Insulin resistance: one of the causes of insulin resistance is high cortisol levels. High insulin can delay ovulation, cause excess male hormones (androgens) to be produced.
6. Extra fat storage: insulin resistance caused by high stress hormones causes us to store fat making symptoms of PCOS so much worse.
7. Suppresses thyroid function and utilization of other hormones; high stress hormones actually make it harder for your body to make the active form of thyroid hormone, and makes the cells in your body less able to use estrogen, progesterone and thyroid hormones (which you already have less of).

To summarize, stress levels in women with PCOS are higher for so many reasons. But just having an awareness can help you to make some changes that will have a profound affect on your health.
To alleviate stress, the part of our nervous system called “flight or fight”, it’s important to do things that support the other part of our nervous system called “rest and digest.” And that’s where pleasure of every kind becomes very important.
Here are 7 ways to lower stress right now:
1. Implement the 5% Solution: Each week make one small change that moves you in the direction of lowering stress and healing. Think baby steps, and keep it going. Each baby step will lower the stress on your body.
2. Add in the good instead of taking away the bad: instead of saying, “I can’t have this”; say, “I can have this”, and that will encourage you to stay on track and be motivated. One really simple thing you can do is add in more vegetables. For instance, cut up some of your favorite crunchy vegetables each day like carrots and celery, and have a bag of them as your go-to when you need something to munch on. Your stress will gradually begin to lower.
3. Go Paleo (with beans): Managing your blood sugar and insulin spikes will lower stress dramatically. And protein is very grounding, so it helps with anxiety and depression because it feeds your brain the necessary amino acids for building happy brain chemistry. Focus your diet on healthy proteins, fats and carbohydrates in the form of vegetables. You can add in small amounts of low sugar fruits like berries and grapefruit, and beans if they seem to work for you.
 4. Eat more fat: this is where counting calories is completely wrong. Fat will feed your brain so you feel better. And it does not raise insulin, so we keep your stress hormones down. Focus on ground flax seed, coconut oil, coconut milk, olive oil, butter (from pastured cows), ghee, nuts and seeds.
5. Sleep: sleep allows your body to heal, metabolize the stress hormones and rebuild for the next day. It is essential for managing stress. In fact, sleep could easily be the #1 thing to lower stress. Get at least 8 hours every night – to be no later than 10pm.
6. Give yourself the gift of time: women need time. Period. If we feel we don’t have enough time, we get stressed. Especially in the morning. Give yourself time for self-care to feel beautiful. Just taking a bath with 2 cups of Epsom salts in the morning can make all the difference in your day.
7. Meditation- Early morning meditation helps you lower your stress level. It is very effective and keeps all your tensions away from your life.
